Personalized Treatment

Patients are the center of NorthShore Kellogg Cancer Center’s personalized treatment experience. Just as no two patients are alike, neither are their options for care—there is no “cookie cutter” approach.

We create cancer treatment plans to best benefit each individual patient. From personal health histories to genetic considerations to individual preferences, treatment at the Kellogg Cancer Center is as individual as our patients.

Personalized Treatment

Multispecialty Team

NorthShore Kellogg Cancer Center’s multidisciplinary approach provides optimal cancer treatment for each of our patients. To receive the best care possible, we bring together specialists, each with expertise in specific cancers, as well as other clinical staff involved in your treatment, and put their collective knowledge, skills and experience to work for you. Every week, these multispecialty teams meet in a multidisciplinary conference to discuss each patient’s case in detail and to design a personalized cancer treatment plan.

Your team may include your medical oncologist, surgeon, radiation oncologist, nurse, genetics counselor, pathologist, nutritionist, interventional radiologist, and researchers focused on you. This meeting of the minds provides each patient with a personalized cancer care plan designed for the most successful outcome.

Our approach emphasizes open communication, collaborating with each other personally and through our award winning Electronic Medical Records system.

Innovative Research

Research initiatives at NorthShore support a wide range of projects designed to improve cancer prevention, detection and treatment. Our patients benefit from a focus on translational research—bringing the latest findings from the laboratory to our clinical sites daily.
NorthShore has a broad range of clinical trials designed to offer our patients earlier access to potentially beneficial new cancer treatments. We continue to expand these clinical trial offerings, bringing more options—and more hope—to our patients and their families.
Our academic affiliation with the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine allows for even more collaborative research efforts all aimed at improved prevention, detection and treatment of cancer.

Collaborative Care

At NorthShore Kellogg Cancer Center, we recognize that the best cancer treatment for our patients can go beyond their traditional medical care. We closely collaborate with caregivers from a variety of departments so that patients can access programs that enhance their medical treatment.
NorthShore’s Integrative Medicine Program provides complementary therapies to help patients improve well-being, reduce stress and optimize cancer treatments. Our Psychosocial Program provides services to help patients manage emotional and practical needs. When patients are finished with their cancer treatment, our Living in the Future (LIFE) Cancer Survivorship Program helps them adapt and focus on their future health and well-being.
Additionally, we have strong relationships with a variety of resource organizations in the community that provide additional support to our patients and their families.
